2.25 Goodwood – Hochfeld – WON 15/2 (Adv 10/1)

We’re going to advised a win bet on two of the Mark Johnston horses here, so here’s hoping their other runner, Themaxwecan (would prefer 2 miles & weighted to his best) doesn’t go and win.
Kings Advice won this last year off a mark 4lbs higher and is at his best at this trip on fast ground, so has his ideal conditions, having won 3 times over the trip on a quick surface. Whilst he hasn’t been at his best the last twice, on soft ground and in the Northumberland Plate on the artificial surface at Newcastle the only time he’s run on a relatively quick surface this year, he ran an excellent 2nd to Red Verdon who then went on toe win a Group 2 in France. With conditions to suit, he should go close to winning this again.
Hochfeld was a really progressive handicap stayer a couple of seasons ago, running very well in numerus top class handicaps off a mark as high as 103. He only raced twice last year and has been slow to show much form this year, but his last run was much his best for quite some time and he’s now dropped to a very appealing handicap mark of 92. The last time he raced off a mark so low, he bolted up by 6 lengths on quick ground over this trip. With the promise of his run last time at Sandown, he’s very attractively weighted.
