2000 Guineas at Newmarket:
Following the recent update from Wider Horizens regarding the 2000 Guineas, if you haven’t had a small play Ante Post on Wichita as mentioned on their write up, which we have pasted below, then we advise you to do so.
The market vibes are suggesting he’s a likely runner and at the current prices, he rates much the best bet for the race.
The 2’000 Guineas is obviously dominated by Pinatubo and rightly so after his outstanding 2yo season. He is without doubt the most likely winner, but at around Even Money, that’s hardly a shrewd call!!
One that does make some appeal at the decent price is the Aidan O’Brien trained Wichita. Whilst no running plans are set in stone from Ballydoyle as yet, the master trainer has suggested both Wichita and Arizona look his likely 2’000 Guineas contenders. Wichita has looked a progressive 2yo last season and really impressed when bolting up in the Group 2 Tattersalls Stakes at Newmarket, having previously finished a fine (improvement to come) 2nd at Doncaster. Third on his final outing in the Dewhurst behind Pinatubo, he really didn’t appreciate the soft ground that day and can be marked up on that effort; he was sent off 7/2 that day ahead of his stable companion and the choice of Ryan Moore. A big scopey horse he looks sure to make up into a high class 3yo and with Aidan O’Brien having such a magnificent record in the race, with horses going to Newmarket without a preparation run, you can be sure despite the unorthodox run up to the Guineas he’ll have his horses cherry ripe, so at a best price 20/1 he rates an interesting each way play.
2’000 Guineas at Newmarket: Wichita (each way) 20/1 with Ladbrokes & Corals, generally 16/1
