3.35 Newmarket: Raising Sand (13/2) & Cardsharp (40/1) – Both (e/w)
As ever in recent weeks an ultra-competitive handicap where we’ll take 2 against the field although you could easily cover 3 and have a cover bet on Growl now the Richard Fahey stable are running well again.
Raising Sand ran a cracking race in the Cambridgeshire, finishing off very strongly and will really appreciate any rain. Third in this last year behind Accidental Agent and Lord Glitters, he’s likely to be ridden more prominently and can run a massive race as long as the rain come.
Cardsharp has been completely over looked in the market and should never be the outsider of this field. He’s shown on his day when a close 4th in the Bunbury Cup and an excellent 3rd in a Group 3 at Goodwood that he’s capable of winning off this mark and significantly those 2 runs were when he encountered cut in the ground. He’s a high class performer from a yard you can never discount a horse bouncing back from a poor run and is very much over priced at around 40/1.
