Our Ante Post advice for the Ebor, we are ahead of the price and based on how cosily he won last time, he has every chance of running a massive race with Frankie on board.
Ebor Handicap at York, 20th August – Trawlerman (e/w) – 33/1 Bet365, Paddy Power, Unitbet, Betfred, otherwise 25/1.
2.10 Goodwood – Trawlerman – WON 6/1A notebook horse from Newmarket last time when stepped up to a more suitable trip, as he’s bred for stamina. Sent off joint Fav for the Duke of Edinburgh handicap at Royal Ascot, having won at Chelmsford the time before, he simply got no run at the Royal Meeting until the race was over, and stayed on without threatening under a tender hands and heels ride. He stepped up to this trip for the first time at Newmarket and again endured a troubled passage, without being able to show his true ability. It’s very interesting connections have opted to run here as he’s likely to need a penalty to get into the Ebor, so we’ll back him for this handicap as well as for the Ebor at York.
Notebook Comments:Newmarket, Trawlerman, In a race not to dwell on too much with the sad fatalities of two of the runners, Trawlerman showed he’s very much suited by this kind of trip, as suggested by his breeding. He encountered plenty of trouble in running and was never asked a question once his chance had gone. This was the first time he’d faced a stamina test and from what he showed here, he can win races if staying over similar trips. He could be interesting if aimed at the Ebor, just a question if he’ll quite get in off his rating, with that becoming such a high quality handicap.
