The softer ground is a massive key for Bickerstaffe, and whilst it’s dried out a little, there will still be plenty of cut in the ground. Impressive on his racecourse debut on a soft surface, he then ran with great credit in a listed event on his only other start as a 2yo. A winner on quick ground on his reappearance, a surface that doesn’t suit, he has run with credit in all his subsequent runs, but all have been on ground quicker than ideal and in some very competitive 3yo handicaps. Now he gets a little cut in the ground, he can show his true form off a low weight, where he and the other 3yos; get a nice 6lbs allowance.
