4.30 Epsom: Anthony Van Dyck – WON 13/2 (Adv 8/1)

Was perhaps the best of these as a 2yo, finishing 2nd to Quorto in the Group 1 National Stakes and then 3rd to Too Darn Hot in the Dewhurst, which were all excellent efforts as he looked to be in need of a longer trip. Disappointing in the Breeders Cup, that’s easily excused and despite being extremely weak in the market in the Lingfield Derby Trial, he travelled strongly and always looked to have the race in control, pulling away for a comfortable success. Sure to make another step forward from that run, he’s guaranteed to stay, acts well on quick ground and with a fair amount of experience is sure to handle the track. He looks a very sold each way bet in an open Derby.
