7.30 Kempton – Mount Athos – WON 2/1 (Adv 3/1)

He made a real impression on his debut when 2nd to Dawn of Liberation who is now rated in the 100’s, with some fair horses in behind. His 4th next time out may have looked a little disappointing initially, but the winner is very highly regarded and the runner up then won the Britannia at Royal Ascot and the ground may just have been on the quick side. He then bolted up on slightly slower ground at Thirsk in a race that has seen plenty of subsequent winners. Not seen since that win in June, he’s clearly not been the easy to train, but has a good deal of ability and it would be a surprise if he wasn’t a good deal better than his mark of 84.
