A pleasing day for Members prior to the Dublin Racing Festival at the weekend…
Winning tips as well as a pretty successful day from our Meydan Notebook horses.
Here is the email members were sent for Friday.
2.50 Lingfield: Unforgotten – 5/2 William Hill, 9/4 Skybet, generally 2/1
The Gosden stable do pretty well with horses returning from a break. In the last ten years they’ve had 174 older horses returning after a 200 day break, with 43 winners and 74 placed runners, so the likelihood is that Unforgotten is sure to be plenty fit enough for his return from what is a long lay off. The horse himself showed a huge amount of promise in only 3 starts, finishing 2nd to future group winner Mohaafeth on his 2nd start and bolting up on his final start at Newcastle back in April 2021. Our messages suggest he’s considered better than his handicap mark and has done plenty of work of late. It’s a fair race with the well handicapped Farasi Lane and the improving Million Thanks respected but Unforgotten could well be a bit better than these. Stall 10 isn’t ideal but around Lingfield we don’t see it as much of an issue.
Result: WON 5/4
Over in Meydan, we have two notebook horses from previous meetings.
First Ruler 2.35 looks to hold decent claims and based on their last running you’d like to think he’d confirm placings with those behind him that day, as he had been forced out wide and didn’t have the clearest of runs. A concern that he wears a tongue tie for the first time, he’s again not ideally drawn and William Buick has presumably chosen stablemate Dhahabi. Therefore First Ruler isn’t an advised bet, but could be worth a pound or two.
Result: WON 9/4
Due to the price, our other Meydan notebook horse today is an advised bet.
3.45 Meydan – Ascot Brass (e/w) – 66/1 Bet365, 50/1 William Hill, 40/1 Corals & Ladbrokes. – All of whom are top 4 places.
There is a chance that the favourite With The Moonlight might prove too good for these, but at the prices Ascot Brass has to be backed each way. She ran a very promising race on her return when given an overly patient ride 3 weeks ago when 5th behind Soft Whisper and based on her best run at the Carnival last year when runner up in a Group Two event, she does look massively overpriced. The horse that beat here that day went on to run 2nd to Creative Flair, with Soft Whisper back in 5th. Ascot Brass does have a bit to find, but with 4 places at a best price of 66/1 available she’s worth a bet.
Result: 4th 33/1
