Kempton, Simply The Betts
A mistake 2nd fence put him on the back foot early on and he then jumped left over the open ditch. Having slowly got back into contention he then blundered 4 out and lost touch with the leaders, before then stayed on really well in the home straight, jumping better than he had the entire race to finish 2nd. He’s clearly got a fair engine and with a better round of jumping can win off his current mark, with perhaps a return to a left handed track preferable.

Plenty of respect for Imperial Aura who ran really well behind Pym last time is he’d be worth a small saver bet. Simply The Betts however created such an impression last time (one of our notebook horses), we must be with him today now he returns to a left handed track. Having jumped left badly at Kempton, he gave himself no chance and looked to be struggling from a long way out. But such is his class he still managed to run on into 2nd place from an impossible position. His form on left handed tracks, especially when encountering soft ground is excellent and he’s the one for us, in a cracking race which is sure to throw up plenty of future winners.
