Two notebook horses running today, both well fancied.
Newbury, Raydiance – Runs in the 2.40 at Redcar
Has been tried over a mile on both his starts this season now and doesn’t look like the gets the trip. Drawn high here which proved to be a big disadvantage, he travelled really well compared to those drawn near him and can be marked up on this effort. He seems at home with cut in the ground and when stepped back in trip could well pop up at a decent price. He’s now been dropped a fair bit in the weights since the start of last season and is on an appealing handicap mark.
Result: – WON 9/1 (Advised to Premium Members 14/1)
Chester, Calder Prince – Runs in the 8.30 at Haydock
Very much a well handicapped horse having been competitive from marks in the 90’s not that long ago. Had a wide draw here and having started slowly with the aim to then get the rain he was really outpaced over a trip shorter than his optimum. To his credit he finished his race off really well down the wide outside. Suit by cut in the ground, he can win soon when returning to 7 furlongs and given a less testing draw.
Result: – Unplaced, unfortunately the ground dried more than expected at Haydock.
