Here is a brief review of our advised bets from the weekend.
Fox Chairman got us off to a good start albeit at short odds. Winning well having gone for home a fair way out he won with more to spare than the winning margins suggests and looks ready for a step up in grade and perhaps in trip as well.
In the Marsh Cup, the staying race, Proschema came there absolutely cantering round the bend, but didn’t quite get home in the conditions. It’s a tricky one to work out he best trip as he finished like a train over the same trip in the Northumberland Plate and had looked like he wanted this trip at Newmarket the time before. Perhaps 2 miles on a better surface and 1m6f on a softer surface. Billy Ray ran a cracker and relished the conditions, but just couldn’t get past a game and classy winner, finishing a very creditable 2nd place.
Snazzy Jazzy was disappointing in the Hackwood Stakes, although he was trying to make up a little ground when squeezed for room at a vital stage and was then eased, he may have got close to the places but for that.
Raydiance ran a fair race in 4th, but the field were blown away by an impressive performance from Makzeem who clearly relished the cut in the ground.
Statuario went so close at Haydock, dictating the pace he had most in trouble a fair way out and was just outbattled, beaten a neck into 2nd place. The ground has perhaps dried out a little, as it couldn’t be too soft for him.
Over in Ireland Iridessa didn’t seem to run her race as he wouldn’t have gone close over 1m2f let alone the 1m4f on the day, so we don’t really know if she stayed or not. Another masterful front running ride from Frankie!!
Whilst as expected our notebook horse from Ascot, Emten didn’t appreciate the ground conditions at Newbury.
On Monday King’s Pavilion ran pretty well on ground that didn’t suit and hopefully you all gave the race a swerve as we suggested if the rain forecasted didn’t materialise. He’s one to have on our side when he does get softer conditions.
