Tuesday 19th November –

Dear Member,

Sorry we haven’t updated any notebook horses from the weekend, but it’s been a bit of a frantic day. We’ll send out an update tomorrow.

12.35 Fairyhouse – Debuchet – generally 7/2
Really interesting now sent over fences, having not quite fulfilled his early promise over hurdles. He has a lot of ability as shown in his NH Flat days when 2nd in the Cheltenham Bumper. Some nice early hurdles form and he’s always run to a decent standard, travelling extremely well before not finding as much as you’d hope off the bridle. He’s related to a number of horses that improved when sent over a fence, with Smad Place being the best of those. If he takes to fences, which he really should do, as he jumps a hurdle really well, then chasing could be the making of him and he’d be a class above these.

4.25 Kempton – Lihou (e/w) – 16/1 Best365, generally 12/1
Never be scared of one horse and with he Fav pretty short here for one who beat trees last time an is quite small in looks, that opens up the market for the others. Lihou has some decent form to his name and has been contesting races of a high class than this. A previous winner over this course he ran really well here last time from an unfavourable draw in what was a competitive with some progressive 3yos. From a much more favourable draw here, he looks overpriced and holds strong each way claims.

Newbury, Saturday 30th November:
Ladbrokes Trophy – Kildisart – 20/1 William Hill, generally 16/1
A progressive hurdler the season before last, he’s always had the size and scope of a chaser, so it was no surprise to see him take his form to another level last season when switching to fences. A winner at Ascot and then Cheltenham, he ran really well in the JLT at the Festival when 4th in what was a very high standard renewal. Stepping up to 3 miles for the first time at Aintree he ran out a really good runner, showing the benefit of the extra half mile. As he tends to need a run, he had an outing behind Lostintranslation at Carlisle on Sunday. That will have put him spot on for this, and with the suggestion this is his early season target he ticks a lot of boxes for this race.

Best of Luck
